Effortlessly elegant, Cannizaro House’s new Orangerie has arrived. A glass menagerie of treats and delicacies, it’s a twinkling gem surrounded by acres of beautiful British scenery.
With the championships heating up Wimbledon, I escaped to the village for a tennis themed afternoon tea in their new alfresco conservatory. A £3 million renovation, it’s grand in size but has a gentle decor; with floor to ceiling glass windows it blends perfectly into the views of Cannizaro Park. Its mink couches and silver topped tables create a translucent beauty through this glass room, but occasional cushions of vivid green and orange add a punchy zest.
The afternoon tea was scrumptious- buttermilk scones and clotted cream, need I say more?! The smoked salmon sandwiches were particularly good and the tennis themed desserts were charming (my favourite being the blueberry macaroon, with its own tennis racquet crest).
It’s peaceful and beautiful here; a perfect place for a special meal or a catch-up with an old friend. It’s surprisingly modern at first glance, but the craftsmanship is timeless. The ambience is soothing and calm, and you’re guaranteed a warm welcome from the friendly team at Cannizaro House. With only a few days of the Championships remaining, I recommend you indulge in a tennis tea for two!Visit their website
