Fashion Shows are no longer just catwalks. They’re performances. Productions. Events. Art and design is expertly enthused through not only the garments, but the overall theme of the event, from setting, lighting and so on.

Raf Simmons’ Spring 2014 Dior show at Paris Fashion Week is a perfect example of this movement.

Breathtaking and Magical, a floral jungle was created to explore the designer’s idea of “twisting, turning, and pushing Dior,” so that “a beautiful rose garden becomes poisonous.” Hanging florals and walls of foliage created not just a metaphor of the designers vision but an exotic, mysterious environment for the models to prowl through and guests to become lost in. I love the explosion of colour and particularly like how the lighting through the plants creates different shaped shadows, reflections and spotlights on the catwalk below. Absolutely exquisite…
